How far is she, a Greek woman, willing to humble herself to show her faith and have her child healed? She does in fact humble herself - "even the dogs eat the crumbs" - so Jesus takes pity on her and heals her child. There are other places in the gospels where Jesus tests petitioners before he grants want they ask.<br /><br />There's some old child's prayer that calls Jesus "meek and mild". He wasn't, and he isn't.
